The Client

El Perro Negro is a Mexican-inspired cocktail bar in a basement on Main Street in Breckenridge, Colorado, built around a love of agave. Its back bar is stocked with additive-free tequila, mezcal and other agave spirits, many of them single-barrel picks chosen by owners Scott and Sarah Howard and Joe Vandal, alongside a menu of inventive cocktails and Mexican-inspired food. Walk-ins are welcome, and the bar's motto says it best: where the strays go.

The Challenge

El Perro Negro was a brand-new bar with a very specific point of view: a basement agave bar on Main Street in Breckenridge, loud and laid-back, with a back bar full of rare, additive-free bottles and a cocktail program that changes as the team experiments. It needed a name on the street and a brand people would remember, and it needed a website before its first guests walked down the stairs.

The site had a lot to carry for a small team. Food and cocktail menus that change often, a spirits list running to hundreds of pours, canned cocktails and bottles to go, merch, VIP celebrations, hours and happy hours, events and the owners' own story all needed a home. Everything had to be easy for the bar staff to keep current without calling a developer every time a cocktail came off the menu.

Our Approach

We started with the brand: the black dog logo, the "Agave y Amigos" lockup, a warm palette of mustard gold, cream and near-black, and a bold slab typeface with plenty of attitude. The website carries that identity everywhere, from rounded photo cards and dog-themed icons to playful copy like "Off-Leash Monday" and "Take the dog home with you."

On WordPress and Elementor, we built the site around what guests actually come for: what's on the menu, when the bar is open and how to get a drink in hand. Menus are structured content the team updates themselves, the header keeps Walk-Ins Welcome and Order To-Go one click away, and the Our Story page gives the owners and their agave obsession room to breathe.

What We Built

Behind the attitude is a site the bar team runs every day. Choose a feature to see it on the live site.

  • The Comida page lays out Underground Eats, street tacos and postres as a clean grid of cards, each with ingredients and price. A rotating weekly special called The Stray sits at the top, and every item is managed in WordPress, so the kitchen's changes go live the same day.

A brand with a bark

The logo, palette, type and voice all come from the same idea, a bar for the strays. Online and on the merch, El Perro Negro looks and sounds like nowhere else on Main Street, which is exactly what a new bar needs to get noticed.

Menus that keep up with the bar

Food, cocktails and the full spirits list are managed in WordPress rather than baked into designs or PDFs. When a new cocktail lands or a bottle runs dry, the team updates the site in minutes.

Every next step in one click

Walk-Ins Welcome and Order To-Go sit in the header on every page, and hours, happy hour, OpenTable bookings and VIP requests are always close by. Guests can go from browsing to a seat or a to-go order without hunting.

More ways to take the dog home

Canned cocktails, bottle sales and merch turn the website into a second storefront. A visit to Breckenridge doesn't have to end at the bar, and fans who've never been can still pick up a hoodie.
